These Civil Engineering Technician vacancies are located in the OEHE office in the Bangor, ME service unit.

The purpose of this position is to provide support for the Division of Sanitation Facilities.

To monitor and inspect the construction of sanitation facilities project with limited level of independence.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:nGS-5: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level or Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting if the position has been designated by a drafting area of specialization.nGS-6: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 grade level.nGS-7: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 grade level.nGS-5 Specialized Experience: Duties completed with daily supervision and review of routine work and assignments for completion and accuracy.

Experience using construction, drafting and writing techniques and applying it in relation to Sanitarian related activities and job duties.

Experience using AutoCAD or like system to create and edit piping plans and profiles, and alignments and other civil mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings.

Experience reading and interpreting engineering plan sets including all civil and surveying disciplines.

Experience performing construction inspections.

Experience using surveying equipment to complete assignments related to this position.nGS-6 Specialized Experience: Same as above however duties completed at this level have limited supervision with review of the more complex non-routine work and assignments for completion and accuracy.nGS-7 Specialized Experience: Same as above however duties at this level have little to no supervision and work assignments (routine and complex) accuracy and completion are completed independently and supervisor will spot check work.nSpecialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.nExamples of Specialized Experience: Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents.

Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.

Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
