This position serves as an Engineering Technician whose primary workload pertains to construction related to water and sewer facilities serving individual Indian homes under Public Law 86-121 Sanitation Facilities construction projects within the Oklahoma City Area IHS.

One vacancy to be filled in Lawton, OK.

The position reports to the assigned Supervisory Environmental Engineer.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general work experience and 6 months of specialized experience obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: experience in utility construction to include surveying, drafting and construction inspection; experience in the use of computers and software to include email, word-processing, databases and spreadsheets; and surveying and/or using GPS systems to determine physical locations.nORnCompletion of 2 years of post secondary study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.nORnA combination of specialized experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: overseeing the installation of septic systems and water wells; septic system design; experience using computer aided drafting software, i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D or higher and personal computer software, i.e.

Microsoft Office; using GPS survey equipment, electronic total station equipment, electronic data collectors and surveying software; and interpreting construction plans and specifications.nORnCompletion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor`s degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.nORnA combination of specialized experience and education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for the position.

GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: overseeing the installation of individual and community water and sewer systems; experience in the design of septic systems and pump selection; evaluating and troubleshooting individual water and sewer systems; experience using computer aided drafting software, i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D or higher and personal computer software, i.e.

Microsoft Office; experience using GPS survey equipment, electronic total station equipment, electronic data collectors and surveying software; and interpreting construction plans and specifications for individual and community water and sewer systems.

Time In GradenFederal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.

Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
