 We are seeking a qualified and talented Research Technician III to support protein production efforts in a macromolecular structure oriented laboratory.

The primary responsibilities of the position will be to support protein expression and purification for structural and biophysical studies in addition to assisting in lab management.

    Responsibilities Perform the expression of proteins in commonly used systems (E coli, insect, mammalian).

Perform purifications that involve typical methodologies (IEX, SEC) and may occasionally involve the generation of specialized media for affinity chromatography.

Assist in managing laboratory space by keeping a well-stocked inventory and maintaining equipment.

Maintain laboratory notebook and other documentation in an orderly and accurate fashion for tracking work progress, experiments, and results.

Manage biological and chemical hazards in the lab -- MSDS's, chemical inventories, waste disposal, autoclaving, etc.

as required.

Provide a summary of written work updates and plans each week.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator and laboratory leadership.

    Education, Skills, & Experience Preferences Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline, health or physical sciences or a related field Minimum two years of relevant research experience.

Experience in protein expression and purification.

Experience in the examination of macromolecular structure a plus, but not required.

Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems.

  Minimum Qualifications     Education Work generally requires skills acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other science related scientific field program.

  Experience   Work requires two years of research experience.
