Position located in the Office of Environmental Health and Engineering, Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction within the Navajo Area Indian Health Service.

The primary function of this position is to assist the engineering staff to perform technical duties related to the construction of water and waste facilities.

This position works under the supervision of the District Engineer or Field Office Engineer.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.nExperience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Substantial knowledge of and demonstrated independent work experience in the areas of drafting and surveying.

Competence with computer aided drafting software, i.e., AutoCAD, Civil3D and personal computer software, i.e., Microsoft Office.

Skill and demonstrated experience with GPS survey equipment, electronic total station equipment, electronic data collectors and surveying software.

Experience in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications, construction inspection with a particular focus on water and sewer facilities.nSpecialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 or equivalent and above): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include technical work in: drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems.

Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents.

Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as: Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes.

Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated Time In Grade - Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.

Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).nYou must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
