Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Applicants must have the ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision performing duties such as 1) Making repairs that can be accomplished by removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment and fixtures such as broken and bare wiring burned out switches and relays, loose connections and fittings damaged light fixtures and poorly operating thermostats; 2) Performing routine preventive maintenance replacing worn parts such as valves, belts, bearings, bushing, fluid lines, seals, gaskets, diaphragms, chains and shear pins; 3) Disassembling, repairing and reassembling pumps for rotary seal replacement, bearing replacement, determine condition of shaft, impeller, wear rings, and other related parts and implement repair procedures as necessary; 4) Hooking up equipment to existing systems, and replace sections of pipe following previously used routes, hangers and levels, and 5) Reading and following wiring diagrams that specify where wiring, fixtures and controls are to be installed, and locations of fittings and equipment.
