Job Summary   What are the duties and responsibilities of this position? Scanning documents Using the Slate database for application management Updating student personal information (data entry including address, phone, name change, other corrections) Answering Phone calls Open mail, sort, and match with files Miscellaneous tasks assigned by staff members (filing, pulling files, making folders, making copies, sending emails, letters) Assisting with walk-in appointments and duties as assigned Assisting in Social Media management Assist with strategic communications Availability corresponding to the needs of the office Learning Objectives for Student Assistants   Develop strong written and verbal communication skills and learn proper etiquette for interacting with customers through phone, e-mail, or in person contacts Gain an understanding of the organization in which they work including culture, values and expectations Identify characteristics of a strong work ethic Develop proficiency with the efficient use of a multitude of technologies Understand and enhance process management flows Gain insight into organizational behavior and participate in team projects Gain cross-cultural awareness and understanding from an international perspective Learn information and develop confidence in succeeding in a diverse work setting and understand the importance of diversity in the workplace Learn how to apply current responsibilities for future career goals Performance Evaluation Criteria   Student Assistants will be evaluated twice a semester to ensure a high performance level and encourage professional development applicable to future employment objectives.    Problem Solving/Critical Thinking Writing Skills Oral Communication Skills Technology Skills Quality Customer Service Attention to Detail Interpersonal Skills Confidentiality Initiative Teamwork Dependability Punctuality Making use of time wisely Professional Dress Education   Current student in good standing at Purdue University Northwest.

Experience   1-3 years of experience in an office setting is preferred.
