Assistant Director for Training and Student Engagement The George Mason University, Mason Care Network invites candidates to apply for the Assistant Director for Training and Student Engagement position.

The Division of University Life’s Mason Care Network is a hub for student engagement for all new freshman and transfer students.

The Mason Care Network increases the retention rate and academic success of incoming students by helping students set and achieve academic, career, and personal goals and connecting students to campus and community resources.

The Mason Care Network provides incoming students access to ongoing mentoring, advising, and coaching from professional and student staff that maintain university-wide and college-specific knowledge to ensure the success of Mason’s incoming student populations Responsibilities: Reporting to the Director for the Mason Care Network, the Assistant Director for Training and Student Engagement specializes in the coordination and implementation of the training for the Mason Care Network and supervision and oversight of the Peer Student Success Coaching Program and the Patriot Experience co-curricular program.

The Assistant Director works in collaboration with the other Assistant Directors for the Mason Care Network to assist in increasing the retention rate of first-year students Required Qualifications: * Knowledge of academic advising, orientation, disability services, veteran’s services, career services, student involvement, and student rights and responsibilities; * Demonstrated leadership, communication, program development, and administrative skills in their previous experience and interview process; * Experience with assessment/evaluation, training and development, leadership and student involvement programs is necessary * Strong working knowledge of student transitional issues; * Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and be able to communicate with a variety of constituents and departmental stakeholders; * Demonstrated ability to work to meet deadlines, work accurately and quickly with attention to detail and be able to manage multiple complex programs and projects simultaneously; * Strong commitment to customer service; * Ability to manage conflicting and competing situations; * Be able to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty and staff; * Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours, particularly in the summer; * Progressively responsible professional experience and leadership working closely with staff and undergraduate students (2-4 years preferred); * Experience in academic advising or working with student coaching programs; * Experience using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter; * Experience with educational database management systems and customer relationship management systems (CRM) (Preferred) Preferred Qualifications: * Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience; * Demonstrated leadership abilities and supervisory experience (various levels of supervision a plus- i.e.

professional staff, graduate level staff and students).
