This position is located at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum (CHSDM).

The Museum Specialist provides support on a full range of curatorial responsibilities that include exhibition, programmatic, research and administrative duties.nMore than one selection may be made from this annoucement.

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level in the Federal Service or comparable pay band system.nFor this position Specialized experience is defined asexhibition experience with a collection of US Latinx and Latin American design, to assist with performing collections management, research, exhibition planning, public engagement, and associated administrative duties.nIn addition to meeting the specialized experience you meet the minimum qualifications if you meet the Selective Factor.nSelective Factor:Do you have experience speaking, reading and writing fluently in Spanish in order perform research, writing and other duties associated with exhibitions, collections management, acquisitions, and the development of educational materials?nExperience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.nPart-time and/or unpaid experience related to this position will be considered to determine the total number of years and months of experience.

Be sure to note the number of paid or unpaid hours worked each week.nOr Education:2 full academic years of progressively higher level graduate educationormaster's or equivalent graduate degree related to the positionnOr a Combination: Education and experience may be combined to meet the basic qualifications.
