This is an opportunity under the Internship Program component of the Pathways Programs.
The Internship Program provides students enrolled in high schools, colleges, trade schools and other qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while completing their education.This announcement is for a Student Trainee (Administrative).
You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute with no more than three errors.nTo qualify at the GS-2 level, you must have at least 3 months of full-time clerical or office work experience OR have completed a high school degree or equivalent.nTo qualify at the GS-3 level, you must have at least 6 months of full-time clerical or office work experience OR 1 year of education above a high school degree or equivalent.nTo qualify at the GS-4 level, you must have at least 1 year of full-time clerical or office work experience OR 2 years of education above a high school degree or equivalent.nTo qualify at the GS-5 level, you must have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience at the GS-4 levelOR successfully completed 4 full years of education above a high school degree or equivalent.
Examples of specialized experience include the following: using word processing software to prepare correspondence, reports, and other documents; tracking pending actions to ensure timely completion of work assignments; coordinating and making travel arrangements; responding to routine non-technical inquiries; and coordinating and handling logistical support for meetings.nA combination of education and experience, as described above,can also be used to qualify for all grade levels.
Experience refers to paid & unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) & other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills & can provide valuable training & experience that translates to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
