This position serves as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-P) at the Pine Ridge Service Unit, Pine Ridge, SD.

The primary purpose is to perform advanced technical health care extender functions within the emergency medical arena in response to various accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illness.

Incumbent must have valid unrestricted state driver's license.

Position is subject to "standby" duty and will be required to rotate to all shifts.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):nOPM Link: Health Aid and Technician Series 0640 (opm.gov) In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:nGS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: taking vital signs; determining what the provider needs to treat the patient; performing catheterizations; providing instructions to patients; assisting the provider in medical treatments; collecting a wide variety of specimens.

OR, completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a Bachelor's degree, with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects related to the position GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Independently conducts a complete assessment, using knowledge of topographic anatomy, major body systems, emergency medicine techniques, ability to sufficiently understand the legal considerations of emergency care.

OR, completed 6 months (9 semester hours) of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position.

Selective Placement Factor - CertificationnIn addition to the minimum requirements, the following certification is determined to be essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.

Do you have a current emergency medical technician certification from a U.S, State or Territory? Must submit a copy of your certification with your application.

Applicants who do not meet a selective placement factor are ineligible for further consideration.

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
