The Department of Planning + Design + Construction within the Division of Administration and Finance, is currently seeking a Senior Planner.  Our team is a diverse group of approximately 50 individuals with expertise in architecture, interior design, engineering, construction management, graphic design, real estate, landscape architecture and planning.

This group is responsible for all the building, landscape design and signage for all of the campuses that make up the University of Cincinnati.

In addition to the built environment all planning studies, signage and real estate transactions run through this office.

This Senior Planner position is an opportunity to be a strategic part of identifying, aligning, and prioritizing future university projects with long term value and impact to the institution.

 Come and join a great team with highly interesting, energetic and productive work!   Job Overview Overall duties include providing advanced professional architectural planning services for the strategic development and oversight of specific college and or departmental master planning, planning, and resultant programming efforts to help delineate, define, and advance prioritized project needs while garnering related consensus with university leadership and campus constituents.

  Essential Functions Requires proven results and ability to act as lead or be significantly involved in larger, more complex planning assignments in master planning, planning, programming, space utilization and metric based data analysis, highest and best use analysis, efficiency opportunities oversight, scope of work determination, high-level cost estimating, and code evaluation.

    Prepares capital budgets, state capital requests, and related budgeting documents.

Manages and generates changes to Capital Request Projections.

Develops programming documents for major capital projects and reviews programming documents prepared by others for all projects.

  Ability to provide project design reviews for compliance with developed programs (scope management), related move planning and management, and post occupancy reviews for continuous improvement.    Can manage consulting planning firms including review of proposals, contracting, and related supervision to assure complex planning needs and deliverables are achieved.

  Serves as mentor and technically credible role model to help supervise and grow junior staff and may coordinate work of planning and other support staff.

May also provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

  Oversight of standard work and follows University methodology of delivering work in compliance with the P+D+C’s Project Manager’s Manual, OFCC guidelines, and University Standards.

  Develops solid workplans with milestones and deliverables and is accountable for on time delivery and oversight of planning and programming efforts.

  Improves space utilization by promoting and assuring all project move towards greater flexibility and scalability to reduce the cost of reconfigurations as well as increase net gross usable space.

  Perform related duties based on departmental need.
