Job Summary   Supervision:   Reports to the Assistant Director of Housing and Residential Education Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, and supervises undergraduate student staff (10-15) within a thirteen-hall residence life system Revises, maintains, and updates the graduate and undergraduate student staff training manuals in conjunction with the chair of the RA/DA training committee chair Oversees the completion and submission of student staff timecards Ensures that all student employment paperwork is completed in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner Maintains a working knowledge of Purdue Fort Wayne policies and procedures, including, but not limited to professional employment and graduate and undergraduate student employment Facilitates performance evaluations for student staff members Supports an environment that is conducive to living and learning by ensuring that the undergraduate and graduate student staff are meeting their job responsibilities, completing their programming expectations, having regular floor meetings, and aiding residents in conflict resolution Establishes recognition programs for student staff Consistently provides accurate and pertinent job and operational information to graduate and undergraduate student staff members in team meetings, one-on-ones, and/or through memos and electronic communications Behavioral and Crisis Prevention, Intervention, and Response:   Addresses behavioral concerns within the Purdue Fort Wayne Student Housing Complex; specifically assigned to cases in buildings where LLC's reside Upholds the policies and procedures of  Purdue Fort Wayne Student Housing Serves as a DOS conduct officer, adjudicating cases as appropriately assigned via the Maxient system Provides guidance and support in Residential Education prevention efforts by collaborating with the Purdue Fort Wayne Police Department, Office of the Dean of Students, Counseling Center, wellness clinic, and other appropriate resources on campus Effectively and efficiently refers Purdue Fort Wayne Housing residents to appropriate resources on campus and completes paperwork as necessary Communicates confidential information appropriately to designated campus personnel as appropriate Serves in an on-call duty rotation Responds to emergency or crisis situations in a timely fashion and uses sound judgment to effectively resolve, address, or properly refer concerns to other campus resources Reads and follows-up on residential education, duty, incident, and weekly reports submitted by student staff members Establishes and manages cases for students on academic probation both in the Fall and Spring Semesters Community Building and Residence Life:   Coordinates Living Learning Communities, supervises all RAs in conjunction with LLC/IG's; ensures programming, intentional interaction and coordination with liaisons takes place Creates and sustains a living environment that promotes academic success, student leadership, and responsibility to community Works with residents on a daily basis to answer questions, address concerns, and resolve conflicts Creates and sustains a living environment that promotes academic success, student leadership, and responsibility to community Provides expectations and guidance to Resident Assistants concerning program responsibilities planned for Housing residents on campus Communicates pertinent community and university information to Purdue Fort Wayne Student Housing residents in a professional and concise manner through posters, letters, email, or other forms of marketing and advertising  Monitors purchase requests and seeks appropriate purchasing approval   Student Leadership Development:   May advise the Residence Hall Association (RHA) Plans staff development opportunities for undergraduate student staff members   Administrative Responsibilities:   Supports, understands, and promotes the mission of Purdue Fort Wayne and the Department of Housing Maintains a working knowledge of the policies and procedures of Purdue Fort Wayne; Provides timely responses to phone and email inquiries Meets deadlines with attention to detail and efficiency Communicates information to the Housing Senior Staff members in a timely manner, typically through weekly reports Serves on campus committees, task forces, and/or search committees as requested including the Food Services Advisory Committee Management of ADA/FHA accommodation requests for assigned buildings as outlined in the policies (including but not limited to ESAs) Assists in managing student access and entry (fobs and keys)   Duties Specific To Summer Semester:   Coordinates summer camps and conferences in conjunction with the Assistant Director Maintains expertise of conference calendar, works to manage assignments, keys, conducts all check in's/out's, manages contracts, accounts for all appropriate numbers, sends billing to business office Manages linen process each summer; maintaining scheduling, working with the vendor, etc.  Coordinates move in with other Hall Directors   Required:   Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Counseling or related field Two years experience in the area of Housing/Student Affairs/Counseling as well as participated as part of an on-call duty rotation with emergency response Incumbent is required to reside in Purdue Fort Wayne Housing Night and weekend work will be required on a rotating basis Knowledge of campus housing, programming and student leadership As part of the job responsibilities associated with this position, knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA should be maintained, reviewed and practiced to ensure compliance relative to those applicable duties   Preferred:   The candidate having lived in a college housing environment previously Supervisory experience (student staff preferred)   Additional Information:   For highest consideration, please submit a resume, cover letter, and contact information for three professional references Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment for this position FLSA:  Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime) Retirement Eligibility:  Defined Contributions Waiting Period Purdue University Fort Wayne seeks to develop and nurture its diversity.  Purdue Fort Wayne is committed to maintaining an inclusive community that recognizes and values the inherent worth and dignity of every person;
