This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Shortage Category/Critical Need to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as a Police Officer conducting law enforcement duties, enforcing safety regulations/Federal laws and protecting life and property.

***** In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: To qualify for the GS-06 level, you must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level of GS-05.

Specialized experience at the GS-05 level is defined as follows: Experience interpreting and applying a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; and Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military policer officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone.

Substitution of education for experience is NOT permitted.
