Job Summary The Associate Marketing and Communications Specialist will, under the guidance and direction of the Department Head, develop, implement, and manage a communication plan and related strategies for the School of Nuclear Engineering (NE). The specialist will serve as the central point of organized communication for both internal and external audiences; write, edit, and produce a wide variety of communication pieces to grow the social networking outreach and presence for the office; write web content, presentations, print newsletters, e-newsletters, news releases, articles, marketing materials (brochures, flyers, posters, etc.), and specialized correspondence; assist in the coordination of special events that enhance public relations for the office; and develop an alumni outreach plan to build and strengthen relationships with alumni and prospective donors through various engagement initiatives in coordination with the Department Head.
Required: Bachelor's degree One (1) year of experience writing, editing, desktop publishing, and developing web content within a communications, public relations, and/or marketing role Strong conceptual understanding of communications, public relations, and marketing Familiarity with marketing collateral development and related project management Detail-oriented, creative problem-solver with strong communication, writing, and editorial skills Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and to follow through on multiple projects at various stages Strong interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to work with diverse groups of people Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, website content management, internet, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media platforms Ability to represent the University with tact and diplomacy at all levels as well as handling confidential documents and information with discretion Highly motivated individual with a demonstrated capacity for leadership and teamwork Preferred: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or other related field Professional experience in academia Additional Information: Please provide at least two (2) portfolio or other work examples from a previous job or project, for example marketing artwork/videos, news articles, brand/web designs, etc.
