This announcement may be used to fill one or more vacancies at the grades GS-05 and GS-07 only.

There may be promotion potential up to the GS-9 or higher.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS: GS-05: A Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

NOTE: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

OR Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

The experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication, and 4) Problem Solving.

GS-07:nOne full year of graduate level education in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks OR superior academic achievement.

NOTE: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

OR One year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level (or equivalent) which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience is experience typically gained in the information technology (IT) field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT.

Examples of experience are: troubleshooting hardware and software issues, problems, and computers setups and installs.

The experience must demonstrate each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail, 2) Customer Service, 3) Oral Communication, and 4) Problem Solving.

Knowledge of basic principles, concepts, and practices of Information Technology.n2.

Skill in applying basic principles, concepts, and practices of the occupation sufficient to perform entry-level assignment in Information Technology.n3.

Skill in communicating factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing.n4.

Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions.n5.

Ability to plan and organize work, and consult effectively with co-workers.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
