This is a zoned position and will be located on either the Gila National Forest in Silver City, NM or the Lincoln National Forest in Alamogordo, NM.
The position is responsible for managing the fleet program for the Forest.
Including managing fleet and equipment purchases, inventory, data entry and other duties.

Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-11 grade level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level; OR Ph.D.
or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related; OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate level education (beyond what is required for a master's degree, i.e., more than 36 semester hours leading to a Ph.D.).
The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work with major study in accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position.
Specialized experience is experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal; this experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations.
Examples of specialized experience are: Participated in the coordination, planning, and evaluation of a fleet and equipment management program on a long-term basis, to ensure the fleet program is effective and efficient; communicated with management officials regarding efficiency of a fleet and equipment management program; participated in the coordination and facilitation of a fleet and equipment management program and managed budget/expenditures.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
