About Region 6: Region 6 Website You do not need a degree to qualify for this position.We are looking for at least one year of specialized experience related to this position as described below:To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined asimplementing children's health programs; developing outreach strategies and creating relationships with external customers/stakeholders; analyzing and drafting polices and procedures related to children's health programs; and interpreting laws and policies to others.Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of environmental program principles, concepts, practices, methods, and techniques to apply to the development of policies, procedures, and communications regarding children’s health protectionnAbility to plan and develop information approaches and represent the region before communities' non-governmental organizations, elected representatives and the press/medianSkill in written communicationnAbility to interpret complex data and provide recommendationsnSkill in creating innovate approaches to resolving complex and sensitive technical, procedural, political, and socio-economic problemnSkill in oral communicationnKnowledge of environmental programs and activities involving State, Tribal, local and nongovernmental organization (NGOs) Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
