This position is located in the Bureau of Information Resource Management, Deputy Chief Information Office (DCIO), Information Assurance Directorate (IA), Cybersecurity Integrity Center (IRM/IA/CIC), U.S.
Department of State (DOS).
The incumbent functions as an authoritative advisor to the Chief, CIC on Cybersecurity Incident Responses.nIf eligible, applicants to this announcement may be referred to other positions in other Bureaus/Offices in the Department.

If you are qualifying based on education OR if there are mandatory education requirements listed below, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcript with your application.nNOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.nTime-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.nApplicants applying for the GS-14 grade level must meet the following requirements:nHave IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below: Attention to Detail – Ensures information security procedures and control techniques address all applicable information security requirements in the Department.
Customer Service – Diagnoses highly complex sources of service interruptions and develops and implements corrective actions in an effort to mitigate security incidents for customers.
Oral Communication – Presents in-depth briefings to senior managers and other senior management officials on complex and controversial cybersecurity issues and provides information on programs and projects that are of significance.
Problem Solving – Utilizes knowledge in areas of cybersecurity to critically analyze and identify appropriate resolutions for security incidents.
AND Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.nQualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:nExperience conducting and evaluating vulnerability scans and assessmentsnExperience developing plans to remediate vulnerabilities discovered during the scanning processnExperience evaluating the impact of technological change on programs and enterprise systems risk management activitiesnExperience developing and interpreting IT policies, procedures and reporting requirementsnExperience in information data security and management, development and operation of security information systems, networks and data storesnExperience with evolving IT security technologies to develop IT operational securitynNOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
