A six-month part-time Research Scientist position is available in the McShea lab, Duke University Biology Department.
The research objective for this position is to investigate the roots in ancient philosophy of the concepts that have been central in the modern literature on teleology and goal directedness.
A PhD in philosophy is required.
The ideal candidate would have training in the philosophy of biology and would be familiar with Aristotle’s works as well as related contemporary scholarship.
Clear evidence of past research productivity in the form of high impact publications is required, and strong scientific and interpersonal communication skills are expected.
