The Duke Canine Cognition Center seeks a qualified candidate to fill the part-time position of Associate in Research in the Department of Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke University.
This initial appointment will be for a part time, 4-month term, beginning September 1 2020 through December 31, 2020.
This offer is contingent upon meeting all requirements for the position including proof of degree, a background check, and work authorization verification.
The hourly rate for this part-time position is $15/hour for 20 hours max per week ($1,200 per month).
Duties will include; developing the Phylopsy website, coordinating with researchers around the world to develop and maintain a database, proposing initial studies and recruiting collaborators, as well as analyzing data and managing the site; overseeing dog research in situ and collecting data; overseeing psychology research with human subjects (including people’s perceptions and attitudes towards animals, conservation, and other people); monitoring ethics approvals and updating protocols; ordering lab equipment and maintaining lab organization; help with arrangements for travel, conferences, and lab meetings; working with department management in organizing receipts for lab expenditures; edit research papers and help format references; and help with other tasks as needed.
Qualifications: * A bachelor’s degree * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
* Ability to operate laboratory equipment and maintain a safe working environment.
* Willingness to acquire new skills.
