We seek a postdoctoral associate to conduct research on the role of voltage-gated ion channels in regulating sensory physiology and behavior in mosquitoes.
The project focuses on 1) functional characterization of alternative splicing and RNA editing of sodium channels both in vitro and in vivo; and 2) the role of a new cation channel in neurophysiology and neurotoxicology.
We are looking for someone with strong background and experience in mosquito biology and behaviors, and experience with the CRISPR-Cas9 technique in mosquitoes, trained in electrophysiology of voltage-gated ion channels.
An interest in conducting interdisciplinary research is a plus.
Qualifications include a Ph.D.
in Entomology, Neurobiology or related fields and evidence of strong research productivity.
The postdoc will be responsible for: 1) conducting laboratory work, 2) data analysis, and 3) preparation of results for publication.
The postdoc will also assist the PI (Ke Dong) in overseeing the project and helping to train graduate students and undergraduates.
Opportunities will be available for the postdoc to establish their own side projects related to the overall goals of the lab research program.
Salary and benefits are commensurate with Duke University standards for postdoctoral associates.
