This position serves as a Paramedic at the Cheyenne River Service Unit.

The purpose of the position is to perform basic and advanced technical health care extender functions within the emergency medical arena in response to various accidents and other emergencies involving injury and illness.

Position is subject to "Stand By" duty and will be required to rotate to all shifts.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):nHealth Aid and Technician Series 0640 (opm.gov) In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:nFor GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least to the GS-05 grade level.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-06: Independently conducts a complete assessment, using knowledge of topographic anatomy, major body systems, emergency medicine techniques, ability to sufficiently understand the legal considerations of emergency care; Identifies and treats trauma/medical emergencies using basic and advanced knowledge and skill in emergency medicine techniques; Assesses the scene and recognizes the need for ancillary personnel and requests them as needed; triages the patient(s); Performs primary and secondary patient assessment; For GS-07: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR THE GS-07: Determines the nature, extent, and seriousness of patient's condition; Ensure equipment is functioning correctly per manufacturers specifications; Provides basic acute and non-acute patient care to maintain patient stability; Prepare written/electronic detailed and accurate patient care reports, including completing billing sheets, AND Selective Placement Factor for the GS-6/7: possession of a valid National Registry Paramedic and/or a State Paramedic License and be eligible for licensure from the South Dakota Board of Osteopathic and Medical Examiners You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
