This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Uintah and Ouray Agency in Fort Duchesne, Utah.

This is an open continuous vacancy announcement and applications will be reviewed for referral when vacancies occur.

GS-3: Six months of general experience or Successful completion of 1 year of study that included at least 6 semester hours in a combination of courses such as range management or conservation, agriculture, forestry, wildlife management, engineering, biology, mathematics, or other natural or physical sciences.

GS-4: Six months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience or Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science.

No more than 3 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.

Grade-(05) One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as those shown above for GS-4.

No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.

GS-06: 1 year of creditable specialized wildland fire management experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level.nAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

Selective Factors (applies to GS-5/6 only):nThe applicant must have possessed all of the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) incident management qualifications and training requirements to be considered eligible for this position: Primary Core Qualification: Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) additional required training: S-290 "Intermediate Fire Behavior" Selectees for IFPM positions requiring currency will be required to obtain and maintain currency for the NWCG qualifications listed above.

This position has been identified as one of the key fire management positions under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard.

This position has been categorized as a Senior Firefighter (SFF), and requires selectee to meet the minimum qualification standards for IFPM prior to being placed into the position.

For permanent positions only: Maximum Entry Age: The maximum entry-age for this position shall not exceed age 37, unless you have sufficient prior Federal civilian law enforcement or firefighter experience or you are a preference eligible veteran.

If you are a preference eligible veteran, you may be eligible for this position after your 37th birthday.

You must supply a copy of your Defense Department Form 214 (DD-214) along with Standard Form 15 (if applicable) and any associated documentation in accordance with the instructions in this vacancy announcement.

Failure to provide this documentation with your application will result in lost eligibility to receive a waiver of the maximum entry age requirement.

Special Retirement Coverage: This is a Primary firefighter position under the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C.

8336(c) (CSRS) AND 8412 (d) (FERS).

Persons making their first entry into a firefighter position under these authorities cannot be selected if they have reached age 37 or older.

Persons already in covered secondary positions or persons with previously approved service who apply for a primary position cannot be considered if their age at reentry into the primary position is 37 subtracting service in approved positions.
