This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This position is located at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement for Dentist (Endodontics): Education: Applicants must possess a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from a school approved by the American Dental Association (ADA) or the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) which are developed and administered by the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations (JCNDE) and possess a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Residency: Applicants must have successfully completed an advanced specialty postgraduate residency program approved by the American Dental Association (ADA), or accepted equivalent program, in Endodontics.

Experience and/or Education Required: A.

Applicants must have completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science.

OR B.

Applicants must have three years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-12).

OR C.

Applicants must have completed a residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science AND professional dentistry experience and/or training equivalent to the next lower grade level (GP-12).

When combining residency program and professional dentistry experience and/or training to qualify, the total must be equal to or greater than three years.

Note for Qualifying Experience: Qualifying experience involves the evaluation, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases, injuries, and disorders of the oral cavity and maxillofacial area.

Examples of dentistry experience may include the removal of decay; filling cavities; straightening, extracting, and repairing teeth; treating gum diseases; performing corrective surgery; making measurements/models for dentures to replace missing teeth, administering anesthetics, writing prescriptions; and performing other requirements of the position.

For specialty dentistry positions, experience, education, board certification, and/or training must clearly establish the applicant's status as a specialist in Endodontics.

Medical Requirement:nApplicants must be able to distinguish shades of color.

Experience that is highly preferred for this position: Applicant to be proficient in the use of an operating microscope in diagnosis and treatment in Endodontics.

Applicant to be proficient in capture and interpretation of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) imaging.

Applicant with clinical Endodontic care in the immediate past 5-7 years.
