This position is being announced under FEMA's Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery Employee (CORE) Program.

Thisis a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service, not to exceed 2 years, with the option to extend based on workload and funding availability.

The qualification requirements listed below must be met within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.nExperience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriatenGS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.nCustomer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.nOral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.nProblem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the Basic Requirements described above, you must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered qualified for the position.nYou qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $66,002) if you possessthe following: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (IC-09) in the Federal Service.

This experience may have been gained in the federal government, a state or local government, a non-profit organization, the private sector, or as a volunteer; however, your resume must clearly describe at least one year of specialized experience.

Specialized experience for this position includes: Providing technical assistance and guidance to customers and/or vendors to include network support;nInstalling, maintaining and configuring hardware such as routers, switches and firewalls; andnUtilizing IT implementation strategies to maintain network support and operations.

Specialized experience for this position includes: Designing, monitoring and troubleshooting complex network systems;nAnalyzing the performance of communication equipment, systems, services and transmission media; andnDeveloping resolutions to complex issues that impact day-to-day network operations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g.

Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and provides valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
