This position is located in CUMBERLAND GAP NHP.nThis position will be a career/career conditional appointment.

Open to the first 100 applicants or until 06/22/2021 whichever comes first.

Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience.

To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time).

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount qualified specialized experience.nThis position has been identified as one of the key fire management positions under the Interagency Fire Program management (IFPM) Standard.

This position requires selectee to meet the minimum qualification standards for IFPM prior to being placed into the position.

This position is covered by the special retirement provisions of 5 U.S.C.

8336 (c) and 5 U.S.C.

8412 (d) as a Primary/Rigorous Firefighter.

Applicants must not have reached their 37th birthday upon appointment to this position unless there is sufficient prior Federal service in a covered position to permit retirement on or before the mandatory retirement age for this type of position.

An exception is allowed if you are a qualified veteran preference eligible.

- AND - Fire Management Operations: Experience analyzing and applying fire management strategies, plus experience in at least five of the following activities: mobilization and dispatch coordination, fire prevention and education, training, logistics, equipment development and deployment, fire communication systems, suppression and preparedness, and aviation.

- AND - Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement to qualify for the GS-06 level: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position.

Examples of specialized experience could include Forestry aid or technician work, Engineering, range, or soil conservation technician work that involved the application of cultural, resource conservation, or land management practices on nonforest or ranch lands when combined with knowledge of forestry operations and equipment, Farming or ranching work that involved application of cultural and soil and water conservation practices, including safety and use of equipment, and that provided a basic understanding of land use, Forest or range fire control, prevention, or suppression work.

You must include hours per week worked.n-OR- Applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement to qualify for the GS-07 level: EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors).

-OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate education with major study leading to a degree in forestry, range management, agriculture, or a subject-matter field directly related to the position, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as (forestry, agriculture, crop or plant science, range management or conservation, wildlife management, watershed management, soil science, natural resources (except marine fisheries and oceanography), outdoor recreation management, civil or forest engineering, or wildland fire science.).

No more than 6 semester hours in mathematics is creditable.

-OR- Successful completion of a COMBINATION of education and experience as described above.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
