The primary purpose of this position is to provide telecommunications processing performing the full range of technical and administrative duties.
Monitors assigned communications systems and responds to prescribed procedures in the event of an alarm or malfunction.
Maintains logs documenting course of action.
Makes recommendations to supervisor regarding more complex problems.
GS-05: One year of specialized experience to at least the GS-04 level or equivalent in other pay systems.
Specialized experience must include knowledge to coordinate schedules, confirm and conduct local VTC calls.
GS-06: One year of specialized experience to at least the GS-05 level or equivalent in other pay systems.
Specialized experience must include knowledge to analyze, review and maintain statistical data and feedback reports GS-07: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-06 in the Federal service, which has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully maintain COMSEC security.
GS-08: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the next lower grade level GS-07 in the Federal service, which has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform routine requirements for maintenance.

Detailed knowledge of the communications regulations, operating practices and procedures employed throughout the Department of Defensen2.
Knowledge of the organizational and functional responsibilities and operations of the employing organizationn3.
Knowledge of, and ability to, apply procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise in the work of the unit, including the ability to maintain credibility with others on technical mattersn4.
Skill in the use of computerized telecommunications and a variety of associated peripheral equipmentn5.
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing 6.
Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
