This position is located in Pinnacles National Park, supporting the Division of Resource Management, with a duty location of Paicines, CA.

The position is subject to occasional weekend and night-time work.

SELECTIVE FACTOR: This position performs work with rare and endangered species, and experience monitoring and collecting data to document status; safely handle large live bird species (such as golden eagles, California condors, bald eagles) following standard United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) handling protocols; and identify bird nesting behaviors and radio-track wildlife is required.

Candidates who do not meet this requirement by close of this announcement will receive no further consideration for this position.

AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: GS-06:nSpecialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (1) using standardized data collection protocols to document wildlife management or habitat activities; (2) assisting with or preparing sections of wildlife management reports; (3) collecting and managing wildlife field data at remote locations; and (4) maintaining and organizing wildlife data using computer software.

OR Education: Successful completion of at least one (1) full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to the work of the position such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.

OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.

To combine education and experience, first divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond six (6) months (9 semester hours) by 18.

Then take the number of months of full time experience and divide by 12 months.

Add the percentages together.

The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.

You must include transcripts.

GS-07:nSpecialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized work experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service performing the following: (1) planning field research and resource monitoring programs for evaluating rare, threatened and endangered wildlife species; (2) planning multifaceted wildlife studies; (3) participating in the capture and release of wildlife; and (4) providing leadership and mentoring to volunteers, interns, or other staff.

OR Education: Successful completion of at least one (1) full year of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly related to the work of the position such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics.

OR Combination: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-05 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level.

One year at the GS-06 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level.

(Must submit your SF-50 that shows Time-in-Grade eligibility and reflects your title, series, and grade.

No award SF-50 will be accepted).

You must include months, years and hours per week worked to receive credit for your work and/or volunteer experience.

One year of specialized experience is equivalent to 12 months at 40 hours per week.

Part-time hours are prorated.

You will not receive any credit for experience that does not indicate exact hours per week or is listed as "varies".
