This position is located on the Southwestern Region 3 - Regional Office located in either Albuquerque, NM or Phoenix, AZ.

The incumbent independently manages (plans, directs, completes) major program aspects.

Oversees program progress and provides advice to management officials on extremely broad and complex Fleet problems.

Specialized Experience Requirement: For the GS-2150-12: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is experience in maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal; this experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations; assisted in coordinating, planning, and evaluating a vehicle fleet and equipment management program on a long-term basis, to ensure the fleet program is effective and efficient; communicated with senior fleet manager or other senior unit management officials regarding efficiency of a fleet and equipment management program; gathered data to track a fleet and equipment management program and prepared written communication on ways to improve the program; assisted in the coordination and facilitation of a fleet and equipment management program and assisted with tracking budget/expenditures.

For the GS-13 level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level.

Examples of specialized experience are: maintaining, retailing, purchasing, or procurement of automotive, rail, air, bus, or other transportation equipment or services, or in the operation of a commercial transportation facility or terminal; this experience must have demonstrated knowledge of fleet operations; familiarity with Federal, State, and municipal regulations governing the use of transportation vehicles; and the maintenance of inventories and cost computations; disseminated fleet policy and procedure information to managers and provided advice and assistance to ensure consistent implementation of policy; assisted in developing plans and procedures for managing the fleet program; provided technical expertise, advice and provided solutions in support of the fleet program to resolve problems and issues; made recommendations to managers on vehicles and equipment replacement needs; planned and administered maintenance programs for equipment.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT: If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
