THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (Title 32), Position Description Number D0324000 and is part of the IL 183 WG, National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S.

Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians in the Springfield Air National Guard at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport.

The SECOND area of consideration will be all members of the Illinois Air National Guard.

The THIRD area of consideration will be all those eligible for membership in the Illinois Air National Guard.

Military Grades: Enlisted - May not exceed the rank of E-6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing and repairing equipment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 18 months experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories; experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

WG-08 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 12 months experience or training that demonstrates a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic theory and the makeup and operation of the various individual systems and their interrelationships; experience using a small variety of test and measurement devices; experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components and accessories; experience reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.

WG-05 Level- Must possess specialized experience which includes at least 6 months experience or training using common hand tools and making repetitive repairs, experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade, and knowledge of safety regulations and practices.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
