This vacancy is for a Survey Statisticianposition in the Decennial Directorate located at the U.S.

Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.

The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Survey Statistician, 1530, 7,9,11,12, FPL: 12 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc.

Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.nNOTE: As indicated in A above credit toward meeting statistical course requirements will be granted for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to e statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

Additionally, to receive credit for coursework that is not catalogued on the transcript as Statics or contain 'in the course title, applicants must attach an official course description for the course that clarifies that the course has statistical content, or written documentation (documentation must be on official school letterhead) from the professor or a school official verifying that the content of a course has either met the 50% statistics course requirements or was statistical course if the course name in your transcript is not entitled as statistics.nORnB.

Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.nANDSpecialized Experience:nFor the GS-07, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-05 in the Federal service.

Experience applying statistical techniques such as measurements of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and test of significance.

Experience using programs such as Excel and Access.

Experience preparing charts and tables.

Experience writing procedures for automated or computer-assisted statistical survey operations.

Experience developing and/or presenting reports on statistical studies or surveys.

Experience making preliminary recommendations on problems encountered.nOR1 year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement.nFor the GS-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes: Experience applying statistical techniques such as measurements of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and test of significance.

Experience using programs such as Excel and Access.

Experience preparing charts and tables.

Experience on developing reports on collected data.

Experience writing procedures for automated or computer-assisted statistical survey operations.

Experience developing and/or presenting reports on statistical studiesor surveys.

Experience making preliminary recommendations on problemsencountered.

Experience performing experimental design, dataanalysis, sampling, forecasting, quality control, andoperational research.

Experience disseminating study results through written documents and oral presentations.nORMaster's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education.nFor the GS-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service.

or equivalent doctoral degreenFor the GS-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service.

Experience for this position includes: Experience applying statistical techniques such as measurements of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and test of significance.

Experience coordinating fileddata collection activities.

Experience serving as a technical advisor and providing guidance on various statisticaltechniques and methods.

Experience using programs such as Excel and Access.

Experience preparing charts and tables.

Experience developing reports and data.

Experience writing procedures and automated or computer-assisted statistical survey operations.

Experience developing and/or presenting reports on statistical studiesor surveys.

Experience providingtechnical assistance on the use ofcomplexstatistical techniques.

Experience making preliminary recommendations on problemsencountered.

Experience performing experimental design, dataanalysis, sampling, forecasting, quality control, andoperational research.

Experience disseminating study results through written documents and oral presentations.nEducation cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
