This position is with the Department of Commerce, Office of Space and Building Management, Building Management Division, Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) Shop, located in Washington DC.
The primary purpose of this position is to supervise a group of motivated HVAC/USRO operators who will be repairing, maintaining and improving HVAC systems for the Herbert C.
Hoover Building which is the headquarters for the Department of Commerce.
Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Qualification requirements as noted below.
WS-11: There is no specific length of training or experience required.
However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient ability to lead or supervise to successfully perform the work of this position.
Examples of such experience include: Supervising employees who are responsible for the testing, adjustments, repair, and operation of Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Supervising employees who are responsible for preventive maintenance tasks which include the systematic inspection, detection, troubleshooting and correction of problems in commercial buildings.
Selective Placement Factor(s): Selective placement factors are applied in the same manner as minimum qualification requirements.
Relevant selective placement factor experience must be well documented in your resume.
Failure to meet a selective placement factor will result in you not receiving further consideration.
In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following selective placement factor(s): CFC Universal Refrigerant License requirement for individuals who perform repairs or installations on any HVAC slit systems or package systems.
Most HVAC workers will have this, however, if they do not have this, we cannot employ them as it is a CFC HVAC law violation.
According to the Clean Air Act enforced by EPA, this is a federal requirement.
